STRIVING FOR TE MS SHOW PRO EME The Mustang athletes showed a great deal of speed, strength, and ability in the sport of wrestling, cross country, and tennis. In the sport of wrestling coached by Gary McKee, the team found the year to be successful in spite of a few mishaps. Even though the team was short of a few weights, the drive and determination of the athletes to be the best was not dam- pened. EXCELLENCE IN ANY EVENT BUILDS CHARACTER STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE Wrestling practice involves many forms of excercises plus learning different moves and techniques. Mark Bruner is pinned to the mat by jeff Allen using the cradle. A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION PAYS OPI: EOR MUSTANGS. This year was the debut for the OMS tennis team. There was a large num- ber of talented players that participat- ed. The practices were held after school and more than fifty students came out to improve their skills. Even though this was the first year for tennis at OMS the team demonstrated a tremendous skill and competitive- ness. The future is bright for tennis at OMS, coached by Phillip Porter. Another exciting sport for Okmulgee Middle School was the Cross-Country team coached by Dwight Pankey. The 6th, 7th, 8th boys and girls proved to be some of our best run- ners. The eighth grade girls did ex ceedingly well, placing third foufl timesg second two times, and one first place finish.
