Injury -Plaguetl Bulldogs Have 2-8 Record Coach Charles Cruce The OI-IS Bulldogs, returning only two starters from last year's state finalist team, faced one of the toughest. schedules in high school football. This year was their first out of the Six Lakes Conference and in Class BAA. 'l'hc Bulldogs played all of their games with spirit and determination. although they finished with a 2-8 season. Many of their opponents were high ranking teams. After losing their first game to Bixby, the Bulldogs came back to defeat their traditional tn-chrival, Henryetta, in a 14-0 battle. Following a losing streak of four games, in which they lost hard-fought contests to Broken Arrow, Tahlequah, McA1ester, and Sapulpa, they trounced the Seminole Chief- tains, 34-0. The Bulldogs closed out the season losing to top-ranked Ada and Sand Springs. It was a rebuilding year in which the Dogs gained valuable experience for future games. Fourth Year In a Row -- Fifteen Wins or Better The O.H.S. Bulldogs, in what was fore- cast ass a rebuilding year at the first of the season due to the loss of four starters from last year's team, started the season in the winning tradition before capacity crowds. Honors were brought in by the Bulldogs in several ways. They' won two trophies this year--one for winning the Okmulgee Invitational Tournament, and the other for capturing second place in the Nowata Tourney. Member of this year's Bulldog team granted Coach Scott his one hund- redth win by defeating Cushing the first round of the Okmulgee Invitational Tour- nament. Five boys led the Bulldogs to their suc- cestsful season record of 16-10, which was the 4th consecutive year for the Bulldogs to collect at least 16 wins. Bob Hudkins led the scoring by chalking up an impress- ive 18.8 average per gameg Charles Brasier had an 11.6 averageg Clyde Crutchmer to- taled a 9.5 average, and Johnny Reese and Neil Acker compiled 8.8 averages. Also contributing greatly to the successful sea- son were Dickie Walton and Randy Flood. These boys and the remaining team members led the Bulldogs to their out- standing season record. They were rated fourth in the state until the Bulldogs were plagued with the flug but even after the flu set in and the Dogs lost much of their momentum, they still ended up rated tenth in Class AA.
