The directions we took as a student body and the paths we walked as indi- viduals are reflected in our faces, our attitudes, an-d will be--in our futures. They were routes to conflict, to success, to happiness, and to honor. Of course, the main highway led to learning. Academic signposts dotted the course, with detours leading to football games, dances, school spon- sored trips and club meetings. When we reach the end of this road, we see that it leads in many directions, for after students leave Okmulgee High School, they will tra- vel many roads to success, never for- getting that part of the road called Route '68. Roadway To Conflict Guide To Action '5 wk my f :Q Meet The Problem Find A Solution Understand Why i' t X Striving To Students spend six hours each school day working together in class- es. These classes provide hours of first rate opportunities which enable students to learn new ideas, to ques- tion tradition, and to make decisions. O.H.S. has as its aim the pro- vision of opportunities for each stu- dent, limited only by his capacity to lerarn or his desire to participate. The students' goals provide incen- tives for their progress, for which Okmulgee High School provides di- versified classes, trained personnel, and a guiding hand. GCISD' Okmulgee High School h a s proudly served the citizens of Okmul- gee for over sixty years, educating their sons and daughters to accept challenges, fulfill promises, and dis- cover answers. Well-qualified teachers have pav- ed Route '68 with understanding, and encouraged individual expression and group discussion. Outstanding coun- selors .and administrators have given their time and effort to help each student overcome obstacles in his path. An anticipated and cherished moment to every stud- ent of Okmulgee High, it is a memory- making time for the present students, and a time of remembering for earlier travelers on the route through O.H.S. Homecoming is truly a coming home for all the alumni of O.H.S. Deconations for Homecoming, a pep rally, the traditional parade, and the thrill of a football victory reigned over by our lovely queen, make our memories of Homecoming. Our superintendent and school board are continually trying to improve the in- structional staff, equipment, and sup- plies, better the physical plants, and improve the educational services of Okmulgee's elementary and second- ary schools. They work diligently toward their goal, which is to make this school an institution of opportunities for the students who attend it. THE READING LAB offers great opportu- nities for students to further their reading ability. Seventh Grade In the beginning of the school year 1967-'68 the World of the seventh grader was a world of confusion, excitement, and uncertainty. However, as the year has ------ progressed, seventh graders have become accustomed to the school, their teachers, and their classes. They have learned a sense of direction in the school building. Pep assemblies, sports events, school sponsored clubs and contests have attracted their enthusiasm. They designed and built a prize-winning float for the homecoming parade. By accepting the knowledge offered through Okmulgee High, they have be- come an important part of the school. SEVENTH GRADE OFFICERS, Judy Pevehouse, vice-presi- - ' ' ' - secre- tary, learn the art of leadership. ffgff .V ' we K F A V-: .Q . A , an-Q, 32 M Q, new R li ll . - A54 C T V - f T i 2.43-,R . . Eight bandsmen were nomin- ated for All-State, and all members made the All-District Band. The band was honored to be the official band of the Oklahoma delegation at the International Lions Club meeting held in Chicago this past summer. The pride of Okmulgee spent five days in Chicago play- ing, marching, and sightseeing. Playing at all home football and basket- ball games, the band also traveled to three out-of-town football games. Entertaining Tulsa University fans during the halftime activities of the T.U. -Tampa U. game was a highlight of the year. However, Coach Carl Scott and his determined cagens were out to prove differently, and they did just that. The Bulldogs rolled up five straight vic- tories before losing to Pryor. Included in the five straight was the capture of the Tahlequah Invitational Tournament, where the Dogs made Boynton, Bartlesville Soo- ner, and Taft their victims. 1 Q' Y Miami tripped the Dogs after the .Chr- istmas vacationg then the tide turned for the Bulldogs. After this loss the team reeled off 13 straight wins during the re- gular season. This rash of victories pro- pelled the Canines to the number two position in state ratings. The Bulldogs' list of 'thirteen casualit- ies included Bristow, Sand Springs, Broken Arrow, Tahlequah, Pryor, and Sapulpa.
