Tx S OHS counseling offers career information to all those seeking help. Carolyn Terrill looks over pamphlets con- cerning future careers in the center office. NV., I -+ viii BLACK GOLD, the book which received the Sequoyah hook award, is inspected by Dana Collier, Dourzlas Col- lier, Hermionnc Tracewell, and Jack Scott. Dana and Doug presented the award to the author, Mrs. Marg- uerette Henry. OHS Library well equipped to supply educational, entertaining books Well equipped OHS ubrary plays an outstanding role in the education of students. This year the library participated in the annual Children's Book Week with appropriate publicity and reports to encourage a wider reading interest for all stu- dents. More students took an active interest in the Sequoyah Children's Book Award reading pro- gram this year. A total of 344 votes were cast for favorites from the list of twenty-five books. if' I Counseling, testing programs give students guidance in choosing jobs OHS classes have undergone many changes for the coming years, changes which benefit students and teachers alike. New class arrangements, se- paration of the junior high from the senior high, have aided both the newcomers and the older classes. A more modern laboratory gives chem- istry and physics students a better opportunity to learn easily. As we work and learn in these classes, they will help us as we face the Dawn of a Decade. Mr. Lloyd DuBois, guidance counselor, offers advice about careers to Eddie Norton. Y.-'+'! li -X Boys' counselor, Mr. Francis Gates makes out a classroom excuse for Lynn Haslett. Test programs to aid in counseling students for future educational op- portunities include California Achieve ment test given to the eighth graders, Iowa Test of Educational Develop- ment administered to Sophomores, and Oklahoma State Employment Commission test given to the Senior class. Counseling this spring includes con- ferences with each student to plan to meet the new requiremnts for graduation set by the State Board of Education. Sophomores are hard at work taking the Iowa Test of Educational Development, which is given to all tenth grade students each year. ln' -10-
