Purpose ot counseling and testing is to help each student at OHS Much thought and special care is given the selection of each individual's curriculum Through the aid of special testing pro- grams, aptitude tests, and a counseling service given by the school, a schedule of classes to suit the needs of each person is selected. The students' horizons broaden while they learn from everyday classwork. Helping new students, Sybil Basford, Peggy and Michele Pitchford, fill out schedule, library and main office cards is registrar, Miss Rena Gionta. New students are given the OHS handbook, Dog Tag Topics, and the latest edition of the Torch- light to acquaint them with the school. -.101 Counseling and helping Jack Smith with tuturt school plans, Mr. C. C. Warriner, principal, shows him his aptitude test results and his probable field for best work. Instructions for taking one of nine written aptitude tests are being given to the OHS senior class. Spon- sored by he Oklahoma Employment Security Com- mission, the testing includes a two hour written part covering academic subjects precision, and an additional twenty minute dexterity test.

X X-L-1 Projects depicting English life in the 16th century were made by all English Literature students. Jean Peters, Barbara Clair, Delores Dillsaver look at the various projects of other students. ,Ar Student assemblies for all special holidays were given by speech and dramatics classes. Mervin Bennett reads Bible scripture for the Easter assem- bly. Language arts engages in varied educational activities during the year Language arls is a subject required every year. From seventh grade to twelfth, stu- dents study grammar and literature each year on an elevating scale. Big effort of the department is the Intramural contest in oral and written form by senior high students. American Literature students Thomas Boyd, Fred Johnston. Ruth Ann Shurden, Gwendolyn Finn, Kay Hext, Margaret Cooper come to Miss Pearl Middlebrook. teacher, for advice on a lesson assig- nment in the library. Dramatics, humorous, poetry readings, ori- ginal and standard orations are divisions for the oral portion. t'Brotherhood was topic of the written part. All senior high classes wrote one thousand word essays on Hiring the Handicapped in our Town.
