Governor Hall Xx. Many individuals have expressed the opinion that the decade of the sixties may have been the most traumatic ever faced by higher education. Without question, it was a period of enormous growth and turmoil. However, in my opinion the challenge for students and faculty at Oklahoma State University is yet to come. The concept of college education is now called to question. There should be little question that the challenge for solutions rests squarely with the faculty and the students of our universities. There should also be little question that unless solutions are forthcoming, wealth and tech- nology alone will not suffice to preserve our democratic freedom. Many of you have voted your first ballot. Don't stop there. Don't quit asking questionsg accept the challenge that all of us face and help find the answers. Lt. Governor Nigh ,Q-r ABOVE LEFT: Interested students discuss the Omega Project. a study of isolation, with Governor David Hall. ABOVE RIGHT: Governor Hall speaks to OSU students on one of his many visits to the campus. People are most important at Oklahoma State Uni- versity! OSU has always been known as a friendly cam- pus, but as it has grown and become more diversified, it may have lost some of its traditional friendliness. This is why the program Emphasis '72-'73 People originated. We want every student, faculty member and staff mem- ber to know he or she is important! OSU wants each per- son on campus to be productive in whatever he or she does. Oklahoma State University is proud of its past. We are grateful to those who have gone before us, for that which we do today is built on their efforts. People should not dwell long on the past, however, for it is the 'now' that we live. We must serve well in the present, but we must also plan for the future. Oklahoma State University must today anticipate the needs of the future and do all that is possible to help prepare students for the world of tomorrow.
