Specific activities in this connection include a for- eign student party to develop and maintain friendly relations with international students, a spring banquet which honors outstanding agricultural students, and continuous liaison between students and faculty to im- prove attendance, study, and instruction. Brandon, Gary Guseman, David High Scholarship Standards In Animal Husbandry The Oklahoma State lniversity chapter of Block and Bridle through its many activi- ties has become one of the outstanding chap- ters in the nation. The club was formed and has grown on these main objectives: to promote a higher scholastic standard among the students of animal husbandry, to promote animal hus- bandry, especially all phases of student ani- mal husbandry work at OSl', to bring about a closer relationship among the men pursu- ing some phase of animal husbandry as a profession, to help support judging teams in national competition, and to promote a closer relationship between instructors and students. Each year the club pays a large share of the expenses of the livestock and meats judg- ing teams at the four major national contests. Spencer, Nancy Baker. And Promotion Spur Outstanding Chapter ln order to raise money to support these teams, the club has various fund raising ac- tivities. Of these are the Block and Bridle rodeo held twice each year and the annual spring sausage festival. Other events are a Christmas party, a livestock and meats judg- ing contest, a spring dinner-dance, and elec- tion of a queen. A project undertaken by the Oklahoma chapter is the awarding of a 35100 scholar- ship, which is presented annually to the outstanding all-around animal husbandry sophomore. Sponsoring the Little lnternational l-itting and showing contest in which the outstanding showman is selected, and assisting the animal husbandry department in carrying out Feed- ers day are other activities.
