DZGD Of XXXCDFTWQIW The Department of the Dean of Women represents the interests of the women in the college. The stall' is composed of Mrs. Berna- dine Brock, secretary, Mrs. M. P. Hammond, assistant to the Dean, Mrs. Lucy Victor, stenographerg and Miss Vesta Etchison, Ad- visor to .Freshmen Women and Y. W. C. A. secretary. The Dean of Women works in conjunction with Wiomen's Student Government Associa- tion, Women's Panhellenic, Achafoa tSenior women's group petitioning Mortar Boardj, Young Womenls Christian Assn., Women's Athletic Assn., Physical Education and Health Department for young women students. Na- tional Youth Association on the A. and M. College campus, Loan Committees. and Self Help for women students. It is tl1e policy of the Department to assist the young women's organizations to develop their own leadership and to encourage them in turn to work with the Department in building their programs along constructive lines. Dean Stout is actively affiliated with the National Assn. of Deans of Women, State Deans Assn., Delta Kappa Gamma, Stillwater City Panhellenic, and Lahoma Club. The Dean of Women is a member of the following college standing committees: Allied Arts, College Council, Council for Women, Dormitories, Freshman Week, High School Vocational Conference, lnterscholastic Meet, Rooms, Rules and Regulations, Student Activ- ities and Social Entertainment, Student Em- ployment, and Student Health. STOUT A great deal of time is given to individual conferences pertaining to personal problems and organization policies. Woniens Pan- hellenic Rush is conducted through the De- partment. Dean Stout works with the hostesses individually and as a group. She acts as hostess to campus guests. While it is the ambition of the Depart- ment, for all womens groups to work for their advancement and for a superior rating with their own National groups. they are en- couraged to be mindful ol' all college policies.

With the DR. IKAYMOND D. THoMAs, Dean of the School of Commerce, is a graduate of Southwestern Missouri Teacher's College. He obtained his Ph.M. and Ph.D. degrees at Wlisconsin University. Dean Thomas came to Oklahoma A. and M. from Southwestern Missouri Teacher's College in 1929, where he was head of the Department of Eco- nomics. Since his appointment as Dean the School of Connnerce has increased in size by over 500 students. Dean Thomas is a recognized, au- thority on taxation. He has served as Chairman of the Committee on Property Tax Limitation, and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Tax Association. At present Dean Thomas is a member of the Oklahoma Public Welfare Commission. NORA A. TALBOT, Dean ofthe School of Home Economics, is a graduate of Oklahoma A. and M., class of 1910. She obtained her M.A. degree at Colum- bia University in 1923, and took one year of administration study at Harvard in 1930. Since her appointment as Dean in 1923, the Home Economics School has grown from a small school of two depart- ments, 150 students, and eight faculty members, to one of tive departments with over a thousand students, and 28 faculty members. In addition to the regular Home Economics majors the School o11'ers service to over 500 students in other schools. During the summer, the School of Home Economics under the supervision of Dean Talbot, participates in the 4-H Club round-up, and the Farmer Men and Women's program in August. DR. NAPOLEON CONGEB, Dean of the School of Education, first came to Oklahoma A. and M. in 1930 as the director of personnel. In 1931, however, he was appointed State Director of Teacher Training in Oklahoma, the position which he held until 1935. He then returned to the college to succeed Dr. Herbert Patterson as Dean of the School of Education. Dean Conger graduated from Cumberland University with an L.L.B. degree in 1911. obtained his B.S. degree at Ohio University in 1917, and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at Columbia University. The state educational system has received much valuable service from Dr. Congcr. In 1930, he was chairman of the Committee on Revision of the Elementary Course of Oklahoma. Page Z6
