New friendships are made as well as the development of new interests. Officers receive addi- tional knowledge of leadership pro- cedures. Everyone learns just a little bit more about working and playing with other people. There are clubs to suit lust about everyone. Some are de- partmental, dealing primarily with problems coming from the various trades. Pins were ordered which could be either worn as pins or on a chain. President Thomas presents cards. An active student council was evident on campus during the past year under leadership of David Thomas, president, Fran- ces Marsh, secretary-treasurer and Mark Walls, vice-president. Finally, the year was done and president Thomas turned over duties to the newly elected of- ficers, Velma Bardo, secretary- treasurer, James Speer, vice- president and Clifford Town, president. Drafting Club .CUE ' One of the functions of the club was to pro- vide coffee and rolls for the daily coffee breaks so students would not have to leave their work areas for refreshments. Many even took their coffee back to the desk and kept on with their work. Several of the students discuss activities before getting coffee. At election time, new officers gathered in the drafting room to look over their opposition. Student Safety Council Last fall everyone got together for a group picture just after they got their new caps. 1 The highlight of the year for the safety council came when Sheriff Ellis Holly presented them with honorary deputy sheriffs commissions at the spring dinner for local law enforcement agents. TECHETTES With the coming of the new gym building, the girls decided they needed gym suits so they set out to sell enough chocolate bars to provide money for the suits. A dream came true for school officials this past summer when the new recreation building neared completion. The 90 by 168 foot building of brick and steel construction features a two-story front section with offices, first aid station, locker rooms, lounge, stage and gym area on the first floor. CAMPUS LIFE upper floor has a multi-purpose room with stage seating capacity for 60 persons plus meeting rooms, Permanent seating capacity is 1,000 with another 1,000 possible with the addition of tem- porary chairs. Traditional winners in the Food Show held at Tulsa each year, students in the culinary arts department won tour ribbons this year. They took first and sec- ond places in the sugar work section. The other two ribbons went to a decorated cake which took second in pastry and an ice carving of a donkey which took second in the miscellaneous division. CAMPUS LIFE GREATER OST COMMITTEE Through the efforts of the Greater Okla- homa State Tech Committee of the Cham- ber of Commerce literature on the school has been made available at the Chamber office. Those going out of town are urged to take a supply to hand cut in other communities to let persons know of the opportunities available. Local firms are being encouraged to use a picture of the campus on the outside of mailing envelopes. Okmulgeeans are lending a helping hand along with industrialists, govern- ment officials and educators in the fur- ther development of an outstanding pro- gram for Oklahoma Youth. Okmulgeeans place particular emphasis on the Technical school located in their community. Through various means they endeavor to make students feel more welcome and to assist the school in every way possible. Again this year the group is continuing a program of procuring signs advertising the school to be placed in strategic spots throughout the state. Space for the signs is being donated by Knapp Advertising Company and interested individuals throughout the state are contributing to the cost of preparation.
