Softball, track, and ping-pong provide an outlet for the energy and give the participants and fans a few welcome moments of fun and relaxation. Qi., portrait of Oscar Williams gives only small hint of his good natured personality. Sideline picture taken at Aggie Field with some of Coach Williams former players, coaches and train- ers Coach Williams allowed this gentleman in the wheelchair to be along the sideline because he couldn tsee from the stadium. Coach Oscar Williams-A True and Loyal Aggie from Panhandle State Qui' 1' , . RP. i rf? , As Panhandle State s Athletic Director Coach Williams was also head baseball Coach Williams with one of the many fine Coach- football players he coached at PSC, Gib Dolezal, With the death of Oscar Williams on January 28, 1972, Panhandle State College lost a man responsible for much of its high morale and for its very fine Physical Education facilities. Some of the contributions made during the twenty-one years he served as Head Coach can easily be seen. The new gymnasium and the north section of the football stadium are but two of the many projects he initiated. Other contributions include new press box for the football stadium. lights, scoreboards, training room, and the trophy case in the field house. Also, there are many fine men, who were former athletes, moving forward all over the world, because of the influence of Coach Williams. Oscar Williams and his lovely wife Barbara moved to Goodwell in June, 1951. During this twenty-one year period, under Coach Williams' guidance, Panhandle has won many victories, such as the New Mexico Conference: 1952-54 and the All-Sports Bowl in Okla- homa City against Langston: 1961. We at PSC will always be proud of Coach Williams for one of his greatest victories. He was one of the key figures responsible for getting this college admitted to the Oklahoma Collegiate Conference in 1961. I A ! Q 4. -L -wx 1 V' -f ' M -'And IAQM ' ,'. . .D ,gm ,K H..
