Bonn The Master-at-Arms Force functions as the ship's law- enforcing agency, insuring that all ship's regulations and daily routine are carried out properly. The force consists of six petty officers and one chief petty officer in charge who reports to the Executive Officer. For matters of routine administration and personnel accountability, the force is under the supervision of the X Division Gfficer. A normal tour on the force for an assigned E-6 or E-5 is six months. The position of Chief Master at Arms is a billet filled by the Bureau of Naval Personnel. 141

LCDR A. MATisoo NAVIGATION The mission of the Navigation Department is to provide for the safe and effective navigation of the ship. The tasks of the Naviga- tion Department include the con- tinual and accurate plotting of the ship's course and position, recommending courses to steer, and the procurement and main- tenance of navigational charts, publications and equipment. Navigation undenfvay main- tains a plot watch--keeping close tabs on the Oklahoma City's position, course and speed --and keeps a chronological re- cord of events occurring during each watch. ln port the Navigation Depart- ment is responsible for all honors and ceremonies from the quarter- deck. 143
