Comedy, folk operas performed together The OCC Music Department presented two one-act operas in Judd Theatre March 29-30. The Old Maid and The Thief, by Gian-Carlo Menotti, described the exploits of two spinsters trying to hang on to a male visitor they mistook for a thief. Down in the Valley by Kurt Weill, with lyrics by Arnold Sungaard, was the story of a condemned man who had to see his girl before he died. This opera used traditional American folk song.
