During the season, the team won six out o eleven meets, plus second and third places in tw triangular meets with ASU and the University o Arizona. California was the scene of two tournament in which the Bears placed fourth out of thirtee teams in one and thirteenth out of twenty teams i another. Coach Carson named Dave Humphrey as hi top man. Other top scorers on our Cross Countr Team were Oscar Flores, Richard Wenham, Angel Alaface, and Valiean Joshevama. Although Kas SANDPRINTS went to press Coach Carson predicted good depth and strengt in the field events, it's going to be hard to matc last year's team. Last year the team won six du meets, two triangular meets, and placed second i the National Junior College Track Meet. The 1963 Track Team will include returnin lettermen Don Duxbury Cpole vaultl, Charles Ma field Cbroad iump and 220 yd.l, Ken Hickman Chal milel, Ted Pohle Csprintj, and Mike Turner Cdi tancel. 7 1' X'- THE Golf Team appeared to be aiming for an undefeated season as we went to press. Utah State and San Diego Navy have been the easiest wins, the team beat Utah State twice in two attempts and San Diego Navy once. The Bears also edged the University of Arizona and San Diego Marine Corps, both by one point. Coach Hogan's top men so far are Tom Schenke, with an average of 74, and Pete Strupp, with 75. The team average has been 76 and the season record is now CMarch 251 5 wins and no losses. .T + , A an , . uw .ti ..-. -.y ' V .' . iv l ' ring. 2 TENNIS is THE Men's Varsity Tennis Team was edged out :Q-3 p, in the first three meets by Utah State, Arizona - ' . ' State, and the Marine Corps in San Diego. Dick 5' Graham was the number one player, Armando Jacova and John Theile were close for number two, and freshman Jim Fabian, predicted to be- come a terrific player next year, was number four. Playing against local high schools, our Wom- en's Varsity Tennis Team was undefeated. They also played winter league competition with Phoenix and Paradise Valley Country Clubs, and the tennis club at Encanto, the Racket Club, u 4 and others.
