Learning the art of Japanese cooking AWS EXPERIMENT IN INTERNATIONAL LIVING FOR FIVE YEARS the Associated Women Students have provided funds for a student for the Experiment in Interna- tional Living to Yugoslavia, Holland, Germany, Sweden and during the past summer, to Japan. For nine weeks this past summer, first-semester Asso- ciated Students president, Pat Kurtz, Iived near Kofu, Japan C80 miles north of Tokyoi, with other American students, at the home of Okumura-san, her Japanese father. Pat commented that these are hard times for the Japan- ese college student - going away from the family to school, learning new ways of doing things, getting new ideas - then returning home to find scorn from his family, because he is not thinking in the traditional Japanese way.
