Okinawa Christian School is dedicated to the task of educating the whole being-physical, mental, and spiritual. In order to accomplish this seemingly impossible task, God, in His wisdom, has raised up this school made up of students, teachers, staff, parents. Board members, and admin- istrators who are subject to human frailties. Throughout this school year, we have seen much progress in our school. Some have found the Lord here. Others have grown spiritually. Most have achieved varying degrees of academic attainment. Others have failed or we have failed them. But God has dealt with us as humans not machines. We face success and failure throughout life. Let us remember that true education is to take what we have learned, whether through success or failure, and to apply these truths in living. We realize that God has blessed us abundantly. We trust that this edition of the Citadel will help you recall the lessons you have learned during the past school year. It has been a real privilege and a blessed pleasure in serving as your administrator. May the Lord continue to bless you. - i mJ J inA-oJu-c- michael s. kaneshiro principal eugene shockley assistant principal As the Talmud says, Every human being is equal in worth to the whole world. Know that for your sake the world was created. Every human being is thus something unique, a personality. As the ancient saying puts it, each man is coined for himself. VJe at Okinawa Christian School have confidence not only in the good and noble but in all men be- cause they carry within them a soul. This is the most that can be said about the value of man; no greater nobility can be attributed to him. That man was created in the image of God means, then, that the highest may be demanded of him. The ethical task is the task of all men; it is the field in which each man may possess genius. The Bible gives this doctrine classical expression: Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy (Lev. 19:2). That is the highest ideal that can be put before man: to become more and more like God. This great ideal has been chosen by our school as the basic foundation for all our educational hopes and goals for each of you. May God grant success to this noble ambition both now and as you live out this goal. sincerel y. xi2 r 2 administration
