We of Okinawa Christian School are privileged to have as our principal the Rev. Arthur B. Chesnut. His warmth and friendliness, his faithful attention to his du- ties, and his untiring devotion to the needs of our school prompt us to dedicate this, our first annual, t o him. ELAINE RINNERT Sec retary East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet is a statement that the Okinawa Christian School hopes to prove wrong. It is the purpose and intent of the school to bring together many nationalities and to introduce them to Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. In my three years of association with the school, of which two have been as teacher and one as secretary in the office, I have watched many different nationalities come and go, and have seen the effect, through the dedication of faculty and staff under God, which the school has had on many young lives. A young Chinese lad who had escaped from Communist China was one of my third-grade stu- dents. For three years I have watched him hurdle the barriers of the English language and emerge as one of the top students in the eighth grade. I shall never forget a particular instance as I stood before my class and watched them as they sang a Christian hymn and read the Bible together. I suddenly realized, though I had heard it most of my life, that God did love the world--not just me because my skin was white, but all of the precious young lives who sat before me that day--no matter the color of their skin. I could not keep back the tears. This realization has meant much as I see God ' s plan for the world. God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself . . . . a : i
