Griisse aus Deutschland! This year’s German Exchange Program involved fifteen high school students from Germany, and two parent chaperones. While here in Okemos, they stayed at the homes of students who were currently studying German. In between the nightly partying held in their honor, they were introduced to bowling, horseback riding and the famed American ‘cheap flick’ MOVIES! (After the influence of ‘Animal House,' their going-away party was to the theme of TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!) Attending the classes of O.H.S. helped them to view an American school system — and gave our interested students first hand knowledge of the German language. The highlight of their visit w'as a trip to Toronto, Canada, via Niagara Falls, where they toured the city and science museum. In honor of their last night in Okemos. a progressive-pot luck dinner u'as held at the various homes of the students, ending their exciting stay in America.

From Germany, With Love! The German Club has been busy with their annual OKTOBERFEST and Sylvester’s Party. To fund each activity, they sold calendars and baked ‘LEBKUCHEN HERZ,’ or heart cookies, for Valentine’s Day, which contained “sweet nothings’’ written in German. As there were no officers this year, they organized committees to plan new events — one being a trip to Frankenmuth, Mich, in the spring. The club also sponsored the annual German Exchange Student Program in the spring. r ,
