Since the purpose of the Art Club is to travel to N.Y.C. in the spring, the whole year is spent fund raising for the trip. This year’s club was involved in an after-school elementary art class with children, plus a sale of hand-made X-Mas ornaments in December. Silkscreened posters were also made to promote the school musical and drama productions. Together with the Latin Club, the group’s exposure to the World’s Art Center in New York proved to be a success.

FFA Carries the Seed of Growth The Future Farmers of America is made up of students interested in agriculture and natural resources. This year after attending the state F.F.A. convention and competing in the leadership contest, the club raised 50 chickens and were involved in landscaping around the school. To educate elementary students about accidental poisoning, they distributed literature to parents in the spring, advising them on precautions for poison prevention. The. International Thespian. Society The Okemos High School International Thespian Society began its 2nd year with a troupe of 30 students. The Thespians, sponsord by Mrs. Kendy, attracted people interested in all aspects of the theatre. Their first project took place at the Fine Arts Festival where they sponsored “Be a Clown” Day. Members of the troupe taught children make-up techniques and demonstrated the art of mime. With the purchase of a button-making machine, the troupe hopes to sell buttons to other clubs and organizations in the future. MEMBERS: Kate Edgar, Richard Bigelow.
