From morning to night, January to December, we all are affected by the experiences in our lives. This book is made for that particular reason; to record everything that means something to us. This is the record of a year’s metamorphosis dedicated to ... metamorphosis: (met'o-mor'fo-sis) Complete transformation of character, purpose, circumstances 8

Besides these internal changes, there have been many other external ones which have made Okemos High School as it is today. The new bleachers enabled 750 more people to cheer on the Chiefs. For our formerly empty courtyard a new modern sculpture was commissioned by the “Parent Art Start” committee to alter our environment. Finally, a new sign for the foregrounds was designed and built this year in an attempt to rejuvenate the community’s knowledge of what’s happening in our school.

s a coach: “Participating in sports under him, you had a feeling he was concerned about you beyond just he game; also as a person in terms of your personal growth.” Jon Kreider s a teacher: “Dedicated ... he was always thinking up ways of making it better.” Doug Richey s Assistant Principal: “He handled the job with dignity. He respected students as human beings and never ost his heart.” Doug Collar s Student Activities Director: “The students are his number one concern.” Diane Harsha No faculty member at Oke-nos High School fits the theme f metamorphosis better than Hr. Robert Baker. During his wenty-eight years on the staff at )kemos, he has held jobs rang-ng from Teacher, Coach and 1'lub Sponsor to Vice-Principal tnd Director of Student Activi-ies. Although Mr. Baker’s job itie has changed, the man eneath the title remains the ame: a well-liked, kind-hearted ndividual who has dedicated his life to caring for other people. Obviously, the job as Director of Student Activities was made for a man like Mr. Baker. His occupation gives him the chance to do what he naturally loves doing: working directly with students to help them fully enjoy high school by planning and participating in various activities. Some of his responsibilities include scheduling dances and assemblies, organizing Home- coming, publishing the student newsletter, and acting as an advisor to the student government. Mr. Baker retires from Oke-mos High School this year. He will always be remembered by those students and staff who knew him, as a man whose whole life was devoted to service and who never hesitated to go out of his way for a fellow human being.
