SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS AND SPONSORS — Seated: Ed Thomas, Kim Wilkins, Forest Kenworthy, Lynne Johnson. Standing: Mrs. Clemow, Mr. Kapalla. Time Marches On In September of 1944 fifteen of the seventy seniors who will graduate in June started on the road to education in the little white school in Okemos. As the years passed we increased our numbers and left the carefree days of the grades to enter the serious years of high school. During our Freshman year we were under the leadership of President, Stuart Reuffer; Vice-President, Jack Weiss; Secretary, Ruth Davidson; and Treasurer, Ed Thomas. In addition to the class officers we were carefully guided by our sponsors, Mrs. Clemow and Mr. Kapalla. In order to finance our operations we sold refreshments at the basketball and football games. The first of our successful dances was the Turkey Hop, with Jerry Warren's orchestra furnishing the musical background. Due to our success with our first dance we were encouraged to secure Jerry Warren's orchestra again in the spring for our Spring Serenade, which was equally profitable- Our Sophomore career had a fine start with the following officers: President, Jim Kreider; Vice-President, Jack Hagerman; Secretary, Elaine Kalush; and Treasurer, Tim Willis. We welcomed the Freshmen with a party and had a class supper in the school gym. We continued selling refreshments at the basketball and football games. We gave the Harvest Moon dance with music supplied by Earl Henry and his orchestra. To complete the dynamic Sophomore year we held a Sadie Hawkins record dance for the entire high school. We began our Junior year with Ed Berry's orches- tra supplying the music for another fabulous all-high party. Our class proved its dramatic ability by putting on our Junior Play, But Fair Tomorrow, under the direction of Miss Schram. The whole class made it an entertaining and worthwhile project. More additions to our class treasury were obtained through the sales of ice cream. The highlight of the school year was the Junior-Senior banquet and prom, held in the Union Building. Blue and silver place cards and programs carried out the theme Now Is The Hour. After a delicious dinner, we danced to the music of Earl Henry and his orchestra. The class officers for the Junior year were President, Tony Brocci; Vice-President, Alice Burch; Secretary, Bonnie Andrus; and Treasurer, Jackie Paty. The year went by swiftly and before we knew it we were Seniors. We began our last year in high school with a Homecoming Dance . Senior Class representatives Max Creaser and Connie Emery were chosen Homecoming King and Queen- Following the Homecoming ceremonies, we sorrowfully gave our last dance, a Halloween party held in the school gym, as students of Okemos High School. In the spring we were guests of the Juniors at the Junior-Senior Prom. Suddenly graduation was upon us with Baccalaureate Sunday and a week later the big day of Commencement with Dean Ernest O. Melby as our speaker. We express our gratitude to Mrs. Clemow and Mr. Kapalla, our high school sponsors. We hope that the future years will enable us to carry out the aims that we have set for ourselves. 1 7
