Taking time out for any of these reasons is a good thing, but taking time out to think is more important. You boys and girls of today are preparing for life in a world where super speed, atomic power, and advanced science will make the turn table of events so complicated that a person who does not take time out to meditate, will be lost and left behind. One of the greatest giits America has to offer is the opportunity to accept responsibility. li you fail to arrange your schedule so that you can take the time to think clearly about what is happening, and where you are going, you will not be able to accept the responsibility. ln order to have time to live, you will need to take time out for thinking. As you reflect upon your own needs, problems, and goals, con- sider them as they might apply to those of your community and your coun try. You cannot separate your best interests irom the best interests of your community, or country. You are preparing to accept future responsibilities, and l hope that as you assume them, you will take time Out tO think. What that record is depends to a great extent upon you. Many students never realize the im- portance of doing the oest they can each day. At the close of each day that day's record has been written. lou can never recall that day, for it is gone forever. ln talking with the Seniors this thought has been expressed numerous ti lf I had only realized, or if I could only do this over, my record in the permanent record book would certainly be different.H But the record is just as the name of the book indicates, a permanent record. H To the students who have one or two years remaining, l sincerely hope y will take advantage of the many opportunities offered you. When the final check is made of your record prior to graduation, it will oe with a feeling of satisfaction of a job well done. Seniors, your records here will soon becpmplete and you will go out in the world to begin a new record. ln that new record may you write new accomplishments each day, and receive a feeling of satisfaction in the var- ious tasks which you undertake.
