V. Irwin elected Weldon Bonham as their captain for the 1941 season. The Whippots get off to a good start by defeating Hennessey 24 to 13, but lost the next two games to Ames and Alva. We then tied scores with Geary and Carmen, lost to Watonga, defeated Jet, Hinton, Wayneka and lost to Woodward. The crowning game of the season was on Thanksgiving day when we not Fairview. With only a minute and a half to play and the seore'be1ng 6 to 12 in favor of Fairview, the Whippets plunged and passed 80 yfrfs for a teuch own and by making the extra point defeated Fairview 13 to l2z'H The boys had a falrly successful season winning five, losing four and tying two Nine of the Whippets are graduating Seniors The Okeene girls completed their basketball season with one of the best records established by a girls toan in OHS Displaying a good brand of basketball durinp the entire season, the Whipperettcs won 12 games defeat1n, Helena, Ames, Waukomis, Cherokee, Hitchcock Lonfdele St Marys, Rinrwood, and Lacey They lost six and t1ed one Repeating their victory of last year, the ,irls again wen the Blaine County Championship by defeating Longdale and Hitchcock Our team also reached the finals of the District and Okeene Invitational Tournaments but were defeated beth times by Ft Cobb and Lahona Coach Dean Brown loses four senior girls Eborhart, Peters Weber, and Naylor, and their successors will have to work hard to justly fill their places Conbratulations, girls for a successful season!
