SOPHOLORE CLASS ACTIVITIES The sophomore class entered sen1or high school 'w1th a great deal of enthuslasm Th1s enthuslasm carrled over into everything they d1d sports, programs and enterta1nment. The sophomores are very proud of the record of their boys 1n basketball Dale McCulley who made the f1PSt ten and went to the distrlct tournament 1n Chelan deserves speclal men t1on The sophomores were very outstand1ng in noon league basketball play, too. On the gr1d1ron, we find Ralph Starzman, Br1an Bayne, Arne Hageruo, Vernon Lynn, Larry Monroe and the lad with the trained toe, Kenny Graves, who L1Gk6d the extra points Behlnd the bat and in the field, 1n the noon baseball league, we again see these sophomore lads f1ght1ng to sup port the1r class But wait -a breeze' streaks! flashes' the f1n1sh line breaks and it's Ralph Starzman, Cal Greenaway, Frank McClellan and Jim Harrls runn1ng for Okanogan High The girls entered var1ous sports activities, too. The most lmportant of these were volleyball, basketball, and softball The girls worked hard to ma1nta1n the good record For Back to school Nlght and for a student body meetlng the sophomores presented a play called The House We Llve I ' It was presented durln natlonal educat1on week, and its theme was appropr1ate for that occasion Everyone who wanted to tried out for the varlous parts, the final cast was chosen by the1r classmates C valcade of the Decadesu a short play written by Nancy Owens and featurlng a theme for every ten years from 1900 to 1950 was presented for the student body Nancy was sophomore pep club representatlve and she, together w1th many other sophomores too! part 1n presentlng the many interestlng skits 1h pep assemblies iflllllillilvlvlvlvllkilillilllllill At last! the big n1ght of the cotton hop, March 24, 1950 was here. The chairman, Nancy Owens, riginal 1dea for decorat1ons There was a bit bowlng as the guests entered through a s1de were many rabbits and bunn1es of all all havlng decorated ground for ped with a After thought up an o very clever rab rabbit hole s1zes and colors, big, fluffy cotton ta11s The queen's throne was in green. Bugs Bunny, who served as the back the throne, was n1ne feet tall All th1s was top pink, blue, green and yellow crepe paper ceiling the group had engoyed modern, popular dance music for some time, Mr Boyer d1rected them 1n some mixers, which were followed by square dances that were engoyed by all Many sophomores worked hard to make the cotton hop a success.
