Congratulations to the Oilton High School Class of 1947 Oil Workers International Union, CIO Local No. 28o, Drumright, Oklahoma .,-gg., Clfoorball ,Season o 46 The Orlton Panthers started with a bang this season with fourteen veterans and tvs elve highschool boys out for football They kept dwindling down until only four veterans were left The ineligible record accounted for all this We started the season wth Cleveland on September 20 with six weterans lhe store was 316 in favor of Cleveland Lloyd Peck made the touchdown for the Panthers The second game was with Chandler September 27 with seven veterans The score was 13 O Then we lost some of our veterans but that didnt hurt the Panthers for they held their heads high and hit that much harder October 4 we played Pawnee on our home field and were defeated 13 0 The next game was also at home which was played with Dewey on Octo er 11 'lhe final score was 38 O with Dewey very much out in front The Panthers had some injured players in the Yale game who were Oxltons stars The Panthers were defeated 400 in that game By the next game the injured were better and a better game was played Stroud with a mighty team came to the Panthers home field and played therr game of ball while we played ours Final score in the Panthers favor was 1 0 The Panthers were yust now getting in the swing The next game we played was with the Bucks from Homrny which was Oilton s homecoming and in which the Panthers won over the Bucks with a 12 O decision In this game Weaver made the first touchdown and Peck the second No extra points were made The next game was with the hard hitting Drumrxght team which was victorious over the Panthers de featxng them 12 2 Fairfax was our next opponents in which Ed Hulsey was the star for the Panthers He ran three touchdowns with the last one being 99 yards One extra point was made on the 99 yard run by Weaver The score ending 1914 for the Panthers The last game was with Davenport which had a very good team and defeated the Panthers 7 0 The boys who saw the most action were Bales Lewis Purvrs at ends H Guest Miller at tackles Hazlip Garrett Inman at Guards Ellis at Center and the Backs were Weaver Ed I-lulsey Peck and DcDonald Others that saw action were O Hulsey Scott Shelley D Guest and Newman There were no pictures available of Miller Captain and Ed Hulsey Co Captain Ed Hulsey played outstanding ball this year and was placed on the first string all district team and Lloyd Peck made second strmg all district Bull Garrett was also given honorable mention at guard Complzmerns Of Central Chevrolet Co Drumright Oklahoma 30. , V . . . 7 1 v 1- - ' ' 1 , .
