LIEIDIHETIDIRV Ladies and Gentlemen, Schoolmates and Classmates: As Valedictorian of the class, I am supposed to bring you the farewell of these distinguished disciples of learning who appear before you. The clock of Time is swiftly ticking away the last minutes of our school career. Only a short period and then we shall behold ourselves as full-fledged graduates, ready to step out into the wide world which beckons us with promise of a successful life. A plain, matter-of-feet talk about the future ---- that will be the'substence of my address. And I intend to give it seriously, for with us tonight! the future is a serious subject. ' I With the passing of the months the problem has grown nearer and bigger. We have ,been conscious of its shadow at our side as we went about our everyday affairs. ' We have realized that there were decisions to be made, im- portant decisions that would have their influence on all the rest of our life. For some of us there is more education, e continuation of the days we have known in the past. For others there will be the change from civilian life to foxholes, battle fields, sea, and air as some of us enter the service of our country in its fight for Victory. ' With hearts full of gratitude to our school, teachers and friends, we now accept the status of graduates and leave the school that has fostered us. As an audience you deserve the deepest thanks and as an audience of friends and parents you also are entitled to our aff fection and respect. Goodbye to the years of our childhood. Farewell to the school we have known so long. And au revoir to teachers and schoolmates left behind. We cannot express our feelings, they are too deep. You must read between the lines to get the full significance of the depth of our emotions. But since you know us so well, since there has been such intimacy of neighborhood und community , everyone of you knows the fullest meaning of my final, concluding word UFarewell.n Everett Weniger '

S UTATQDIRY On behalf of the class of u45N, I bid you welcome. This marks one of the great periods in our lives, as we pass from students of school to students of life. A When the school bell rings next fall,it will find some of us in college and some of us in the armed forces of our country. And now as the door of Oilmont'Hi closes behind us we realize that at last our school days are over and a future, dark with uncertainty lies before us. This future is lighted by the one hope that we, the citizens of tomorrow can play an important part in the res- toration of peace and happiness to the world. The ideals and the knowledge we have gained here will go with us as we face the challenge set before us. This challenge has been placed before us by our fellow students and some of our class- mates who have had no other choice but to take up their new life in the armed forces. We now fully realize the job that is before us will be a tough one and we shall try our best to live up to the high standards our teachers and fellow class- mates have helped us attain. Four years ago, tonight seemed a long way off, but now that we have reached this goal we take with us many pleasant memories of our high school days. Again to you here tonight we say Nwelcome W, and to our school, our friends, and teachers,we bid a fond Wfarewell.W Shirley Engelking X X ,AK ,X f I,-X YN fi? tv y is at 1 No y .fit ,Se A I iv f K QD bf i , I VN AA I -'X 1 X ik i J If X AL K.
