Understanding the Past Leads to a Better Future Mr. Floth lectures his U. S. History class. ROBERT L. FLATH History ROBERT C. ALLEN VICTOR A. BECK Problems of Democracy History Mr. Allen draws a map of South America for his P.O.D. class. The histories — U. S. History, World History, World Cultures, Civics, and P.O.D.—all help us to understand whot has happened ond whot is happening in the world around us. From the cavemen ond Caesar of Rome to radar and nuclear warheads, students at Senior are instructed in the why's and wherefore's of the events which make the world the woy it is. Sometimes the method used for this instruction is new, such os the television teacher observed in some of the world culture classes, but usually our teachers succeed in guiding us through the chapters of history. Without the Social Studies classes of Senior, our awareness of the world would be diminished; ond, as the future leaders of Americo, we would lack necessary knowledge. MARGIE L.
