New Executives Are Faced With Many Problems Mr. John 0. Kaufman, principal, came to Oil City in the fall of 1948. His first teaching and coaching were done in Somerset County during 1940-42. He spent the following four years in the armed forces and then returned to his chosen profession for two years in Evans City before coming to Oil City. During his teaching career he has taught health, driver safety, physical education, biology, and science. Since Mr. Kaufman came to the Oil City Public Schools, he has served as the Director of Health ond Physical Education and as Athletic Director. He was head football and track coach for ten years. Mr. Koufman wos the Director of Secondary Curriculum from 1958-1963 and assumed the principalship this year Mr. James D. Schwab began teaching at West Hickory in 1950. He joined the Cranberry faculty where he taught both grade school and high school. During his nine years there he also served as the Elementary Supervisor. His first job in Oil City was guidance counselor at South Side Junior High School. He served in that capacity for three years before becoming Assistant Principal at Senior this year. JOHN O. SHOUP Guidance The teachers of the Guidance Deportment are a very important part of the Oil City faculty. By administering specially prepared tests they learn essential facts about each student. They arrange personal interviews with every student to help with such important things as scheduling classes, taking College Boards, and filling out college applications. Whatever the problem may be, the teochers of the Guidance Department are always ready to lend a helping hand. Mrs. Reinhardt discusses Judy Harris' future plans with her. Mr. Pringle studies a student's guidance folder.
