Such courses as Current Events and Recent U. S. History are important parts of the History V . . E. k Department curriculum. Here students use newspapers and periodicals for their textboo s. Dcpartlncllt of llistory 0 One of the many aims of the work of the History Department has been the general one of helping to make the student at home in his worldg in these stirring and uncertain times this is no easy job. To accomplish this task, the department claims the services of five men. Chairman of the Department is Dr. H. C. Hubbart, P . rofessor Eells Professor Van Sickle Assistant Professor Jennings Instructor Smith whose main fields are American history and diplomatic and con- stitutional courses. Dr. Van Sickle specializes in the ancient and medieval fields, while Dr. Eells takes care of the English and Modern European histories. Probably best known to the student body are David lennings and Richard Smith who teach the general course. Wesleyan can be justly proud of the work done by the History Department in enriching our lives with the knowledge of the past.
