THE 1945 LE BIJOU STAFF PRESENTS Ohio Wesleyan University in Action 7fekL(mp The Staff presents this com- posite collection of Wesley- an ways in 1944 and 1945. The names on this page are not a memorial, except that they represent indefatigable determination and confus- ing as well as amusing oc- casions. No credits toward graduation go to the staff, but sincere appreciation does. The continual cry of the administrative quartette, Helen Camp, Lucky Weir, Sandy Abels, and Marcy Percy, was make our deadline ! Though this was not music to the ears of Phyl Smith and Jan DaLee, they found it in- spiration for concocting picture schedules deluxe. A tire- less and creative trio composed of Ginny Bagley, Phyl Smith and Jan DaLee, delivered copywriting right on time. By diplomacy and resort to force, Mary Lou Peirman and Mary Lou Wild were efficiency ' s little disciples and, by February, had the pictures of all sorority and class mem- bers on the mount. It takes a Jack-of-all- trades , or three Jills like Margie Hornberger, Hop Thompson, and Dotty Turn- er to help lubricate and eliminate the squeaks in the machinery of management. Their ever-willing aids were Janet Hoover, Lou Ann Adams, Bonnie Pergande, and Mary Jane Lynn. This being a pictorial presentation, the necessity of strong and smiling camera contraption-carriers, and light- focusers, and coaxing voices to say Look pleasant please, was met by the Misses Carolyn Hargate, Rosie Reese, Ei- leen Pfeiffer, Ollie Fuller and smiling Bob Simons, A s. Our photographer found them right there, no matter where, whenever flash bulbs had to be changed and films supplied with rapidity. Promotion and salesmanship superb was never more evident that among Abels crew of able assistants. Full - page advertisements were ardently championed by them in presenting the ad proposition to prospec- tive advertisers. 100% sub- scriptions and sales-slogans to achieve that aim are notable. Is you is, or is you aint? Ain ' t no reason why you cain ' t . . . Buy a Bijou, with such poetic presentation of the idea, no one could re- sist. Choice of candidates for Bijou beauty queen was in the hands of those lucky people who held subscriptions, an opportunity too good to pass by. These were the keys to a sales campaign that went over with a bang! That this was no small task can be estimated from just reading this. Sandy saw the eagerness and enthusiasm of Cynthia Bak- er, Robert Bellamy, Harriet Billman, Marian Doll, Mildred Edwards, Jacqueline Fuller, Carolyn Guelker, Barbara Hall, Kathleen Kennedy, Gloria Klee, Mary Littlefield, Marjorie Middleton, Richard Mayer, Sally Rieser, Muriel Signor, Louise Pearce, Barbara Tucker, Phyllis Walker, Lois Wurstner, Emmie luamoto, Mary Newhart, Sally Sears, Barbara Thomson, Mary Lou Martin, Barbara Landes, Carolyn Commons, Nel- rose Reese, Ollie Fuller was a gold-mine of energy. That these efforts paid-off is evident as you leaf the pages of this volume or as you lift it gently in one hand. The Staff hopes you will say It ' s worth its weight in gold!
