ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT HEN President Burgstahler came to Ohio Wesleyan from Cornell College he brought with him his assistant, Miss Abbie Probasco. lt is her function to assist him in the university administration, especially on the promotion side. As it is imperative that Dr. Burgstahler be away from the art of the time on official business, it is necessary for him to campus a good p have someone to carry on in his absence in order that the school be kept functioning smoothly. Miss Probasco was graduated, a student of mathematics and Latin, from Upper lowa, and obtained her Master's degree from Northwestern University with a major in Old Testament. As a result she is interested in the furthering of campus religious activities. She began her career as a high school teacher, but has since progressed to administrative work. Dur- ing this time she has been at the head of a boys' school in China, and a girls' board- ing school in this country. ln the course of the war Miss Probasco nursed for a year in Camp Dodge, lowa, and seeing what war actually means, emerged from her experience an ardent pacifist. REGISTRAR AND BUSINESS OFFICE HEADS HE administration of Ohio Wesleyan is carried on by four capable and responsible men who keep the university functioning smoothly and properly. Allen C. Conger, whose official role is that of registrar, acts as executive officer of the admissions committee. He carries on correspondence with prospective students, advising them about their college program. He is official record keeper of all academic reports, filing permanently both the high school and college grades. The university treasurer is Donald J. Hornberger, who supervises all financial administration. He is in charge of the management of the univer- sity, but concentrates on the handling of the school's investments. Donald B. Watkins, assistant treasurer, has charge of the operation of the school. He controls the business transactions, such as purchasing school supplies, making out of the budget, and managing of the dormitories. John J. Hickson, chief engineer, has the care of the buildings, power plant, and university grounds. He supervises the personnel department, hiring the employees who work in the school buildings. 1842 19
