An at' mosphere of rich religious idealism, broad social experience, and high intellectual purpose are all included in method and objective. Prejudices are subjected to rational judgments, a vigorous grasp of right social ideals is cultivated, the largest possible human interest developed, and a most sincere effort made to train the intelligence of the student. Our highest concern is that impulse and idea, thought and skill, culture and character shall ever serve thc noblest ends ofthe Lord Christ in His matchless zeal to make a world that is just and is kind. ' Our college community has a variety of interests and activities that are quite bewildering to an outsider. Underlying all these many extra curriculum activities there is, for the discriminating and ambitious student a profound unity of life and purpose. It is found in the consecration of will and conscience and intellect to the discovery and realization of truth and its embodiment in a social world accessible to all mankind. Appreciation of relative values, the necessity for proper perspective, the development of a selective judgment and the wisest distribution of one's energies are responsibilities the student must accept. No artificial method of unity and limitation can accomplish results of permanent benefit to the student. Life will forever present the choice of alter- natives and the selection of objectives. The student determines his own intellectual destiny. College can neither create capacity for leadership nor can it always inf spire seriousness of purpose. Knowledge may be organized, teaching may be systematic, training may be well-balanced, instructors may be skilful and symf pathetic but the experiment of college life will fail without an earnest and intelligent response of the student. , College will simply consist in courses and credits, in hours earned and points secured unless the student brings an inquiring mind, a passionate ambition and a resolute purpose. Great intellectual capacity and a vacillating will, splendid abilities and a frivolous attitude-these constitute the terrible tragedies of college life. Teaching and administration, class-room and campus at O1-110 WESLEYAN are consecrated to the developmentof the capacities of students for a leadership trained and wellfbalanced. They are dedicated to the realization of the vast human and worldfideals embodied in the Christian enterprise. Excellence in conduct, skill in thought, and prestige in personality are sought not as ends but as means to the perfection of a humanity rich in Divine beauty, intelligent with Divine truth. and noble in Divine goodness, Af fx 'd-'14 24 LE BIJOLV27 i W Y Z U Q4 it S Q a x! 27. ii il rj CQ li 'ni -J X.
