Old favorites still enter- tained us, too. As Bruce Springsteen took us to Ne- braska, Diana Ross begged for Muscles and Lionel Ri- chie was Truly wonderful. Joe Piscopo's imperson- ations of Frank Sinatra kept us howling and Moon Unit Zappa taught us this like to- tally new, maximum cool lan- guage. We paused for a seri- ous moment in remembrance of Eubie Blake and Karen Carpenter. As we watched The Who perform together for the last time, we stopped and realized it was a helluva year. Fer sure.
