THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES Oldest of the seven colleges at Ohio University is the College of Arts and Sciences. Comprising fifteen departments of the university and with a teaching staff of seventy- seven members lone-half of those in the University this college hos enrolled in its ranks 25 r. of the upper classmen. Said Dean Gam- ertsfelder in commenting upon its aims and objectives, The College of Arts and Sciences aims primarily to offer opportunities for what is commonly called a liberal education in contrast with professional or vocational training provided by other colleges. Phi Beta Kappa, highest of scholastic honorories, demands that 80% of the pros- pective member ' s studies be pursued in this college.
