And they shall be judged well, for the wisdom and style at which the high office upheld the largest univer- sity the nation has ever known. Harold Enarson approached his work diligently, his entire character keyed to action and achievement. It was not the old uGive rem Hell, Harry style, nor did his character warrant a bronzed plate on his desk which could have read ttThe Bucks Stop Here. His eloquence on the stump was surpassed oniy by his com- . passion for the common good. Unlike his predecessors, it was not a rare occasion to see him minglingiwith students. He could be seen eating with, talking to, even entertaining them, all the while with a smile that was unavoid- ably contagious. His wit was urbane, B 1i rat'- containing cadence of humor timely enough to catch one off guard, to dig deeply into the human psyche at any- time, anyplace. The effect at the very least, was the capture of smiles from his audience, and at the most, an outburst of uncontrollable laughter. Harold Enarson summed up his great reservoir of personal humor in the most pressing of circumstances. But it was not his way to temporarily find refuge from crushing responsibility. Humor was his greatest weapon. And it was this weap- on which refiected heartfelt security and inspired the loyalty of his command. Audrey Enarson rode the crest of these responsibilities. And more often than not, was intimately involved with her husbandis crisis. For Ohio State had an uncanny ability to falter the weight of her burdens on an overworked presi- dent.
