IJSII 42 WISBIJNSIN 0 mm Pu 0n the second play of the '77 Homecoming game e witnessed by Miss America, the newly- crowned OSU King and Queen, and a Sellout crowd of 87,837 - quarterback Gerald let loose a 797yard pass to flanker Jimmy Harrell, who caught it on the Wisconsin 42-yard line and ran the rest of the way to score. Wisconsin's 46eyard field goal attempt by Steve Veith was blocked by Buckeye openside tackle Byron Cato. In the second quarter, Joel Payton rolled over from the 1 to finish an 80eyard scoring drive. Ohio State was ahead, 14-0. They showed the Badgers no more mercy in the second half. The defense e led by lineback- ers Tom Cousineau and Dave Adkins - had a tremendous afternoon and intercepted fOur Badger passes. The interceptions were made by Mike Guess, Lenny Mills, Torn Roche, and Kelton Dansler. Jeff Logan plowed 39 yards for a touchdown, and Gerald tollowed up a few minutes tater with a run-in from the one. The Bucks had 28 points; Wisconsin had none. Springs cleared a path from the 31 in the fourth quarter for a score. Ric Volley made the final touchdown from the 2-yard line. OSU had won another: 42-0.
