Flod Gerald broke the scoreleSS tie midway through the second quarter. with an eig ht-yard run climaxing an 82-yard scoring drive that began with an interception in the end zone by safety Ray Griffin. A bad pass from center resulted in a missed extra point. The Bucks were ahead. 5-0. The Nittany Lions started marching down the tield but e at the OSU 4-yard line e Steve Geise fumbled and Buckeye defensive end Bob Brudzinski recovered. Earlyr in the fourth quarter' wingback Bob Hyatt made his first TD for the Bucks with an eight-yard run on a fourth -down option play. With 10:12 left in the game. the attempted two-peint conversion failed. Penn State pulled out a touchdown and extra point. and the score was OSU 12. Penn State 7. Buckeye end Kelton Danster ihtercepted aJohn Andress pass. ruining the Lions' comeback attempt: the score stood.
