■ imiH rr mi TTi Se emor ass icers During the four years its members have been on the campus, the class of 1939 has witnessed the change of both the national administration and the University administration. In 1936 President Frank- lin D. Roosevelt was reelected and was also voted the campus favorite. On July 1, 1938, President Emer- itus George Rightmire retired, after the students had paid him a mass tribute in May. In 1935, 5000 students gathered to pay a surprise tribute on his tenth anniversary as president. On the campus, ad- ditions to the buildings are constantly being made and have included a hospital isolation ward, the Social Administration building, new agricultural buildings, a Journalism addition, a men ' s and a women ' s dormitory. Many powerful campus organizations have been formed and recognized since the fall of 1935. Both the O.S.P.A. and the U.S.P. political combines have been formed. The I.M.A. and I.W.A. are the most recent of the new organizations. The Scarlet Mask, defunct since 1932, was reorganized. The Student Labor Board, the Board of Publications, and the Ohio State Committee for Student Mobilization for Peace have also found a place in campus life. The Student Senate, in 1936, adopted a new constitution unseating twelve members. The Mirror Lake Nite Club was organized last year. At various campus dances, swing fans have beard, among others, the bands of Art Kassel, Hal Kemp, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and Glen Gray. One of the biggest events during the career of the class of 1939 was the successful organization of Ohio State ' s block cheering section.
