The functions of the Boost Ohio Committee were administrative, including the sponsorship of all the traditions of the campus, such as Dad's Day, llomecoming, Cane Rush, Ohio State Day, burning of Freshman caps, blowing of taps every VVemlnesclay, and their pros- pect work. The lVlen's Student Council had been a representative body caring for the general student legislation on campus. They, however, had no power to enforce and carry out student opinion to a great extent and hence were of little importance. Thus, in 1927, the two organi- zations united, forming: a small body which proved to be powerful and truly representative of the men students. The importance of this body was soon recognized by the University and, by combining the functions and purposes of the two former organizations, it gained increasing power. Between then and the spring of 1929, there was a growing: feeling that the Senate should include co-eds, in order to be a truly student government. This was soon accomplished by combining with the VVomen's Self-Government Association and the extension of the Senate principles of representation to the women's organization. Today NV. S, G, A. remains as a corollary body which takes care of purely administrative and regulatory matters as they affect only women students. During' the present school year, some of the functions of the Senate were to decorate the campus and put up pennants at the stadium during the football season, to assist the press men during the games, to supervise all campus elections and count the votes, to do prospect student work, and to help enforce the traditions and customs of the University.

R ICIIARD VANCE TUDENT SENATE, the governing body of Ohio State, is composed of thirty-two repre- sentatives from the student body and six n'on-voting, advisory members of the faculty, administration, and athletic department. Nineteen of the student members represent leading campus organizationsg namely, Scarlet Key, Bucket and Dipper, Sphinx, Council of Fraternity Presidents, Cadet Officers, Ohio Union, Y. M. C. A. Dramatic Board, Lantern, Sun Dial, I Makio, Professional Interfraternity Council, Y. VV. C. A., VVomen's Self-Government Asso- ciation, Women's Recreation Council, Mortar Board, Chimes, Pomerene Advisory Committee, and Panhellenic Association. Ten of the members represent the ten colleges, and these, with the three oiiicers, make a total of thirty-two, The various colleges choose their representatives as their respective councils directg in some cases the president of the council automatically becomes his college's representative, while in other cases a general election is held. The campus organizations are represented by their respective presidents, unless the president is a I member of the Senate in some other capacity. Dons MILLER Pon VANCE . 26 .

Il THE l999 THGKIO ZIMMER STUDENT COURT HE Student Court, a subsidiary of the Senate, has immense power as a campus governing body. According to the Student Senate constitu- tion, the seven justices of the Court are elected by the Senate from any students who have completed six quarters in the University. The Court has power to hear and decide all cases involving interpretation or revision of the Senate acts, student infractions of University rules, and disputes between students when both parties agree that the decision of the Court would be final. The Senate also elects a Prosecutor and a Secretary of the Courtg while the Court selects its Chief Justice from its own members. By far the most important duty of the Court is to render decisions on traffic regulations.
