Homecoming is a big event each year. The flowerbeds are trimmed and the lawns groomed as many alumni return and students enjoy this weekend. There are many events planned. The homecoming parade, which consists of the band. majorettes and an array of floats and trucks decorated by the greeks and other organizations on campus, rolls down main street. The floats that appear in the parade are the result of many hours of work and diligent planning. Most are made of tis- sue paper and wire fencing. Trucks and cars are decorated with banners and signs. all giving the Bears support in the upcoming football game. Before the game the campus votes for those candidates up for Homecoming king and queen. This years king and queen were Bob Peterson and Jane Calland. They were announced during halftime at the game and giv- en the traditional crown and roses. The football game was attended by many students giving their support to the football team. Afterwards there was the homecoming dance or, for those in a fraternity or sorority, a party. Many alumni come back for this weekend. They stroll around campus, reliving memories of their years spent here. Many met with friends they have not seen since graduation and. for the weekend, made up for lost time. WV Y i.. Homecoming is a time for friends. Many come back to Ohio Northern to relive the memories and share in the good times. lt's not easy to go out into the big world and leave friends, but it makes it all worth the while to come back and see those friends still in school. Sharing exper- iences and laughing together helps to make a friendship stronger. Com- ing home reminds many of their experiences here at Northern that could not have happened anywhere else. The first day of class, that first frat party, getting a 4.0, finally be- coming a sophomore, moving off campus. applying for graduation. in- terviewing and all the experiences of college life. 13
