Ball, Bumpers, and Lights With the clink of quarter and the chunk - chunk of the re-set button, the machine is once again ready to take advantage of an innocent student. Silently the ball rises to the top and then noisily descends the treacherous trail of lights, bumpers, and bells, only to fall magically in the gap between the now useless Hippers. Despite the inherent frustration, the popularity of pinball is on the rise. Many ONU students waste time and money just to have the opportimity of hitting a little metal ball into a maze of point-scoring booby traps. With the addition of the game room in Mclntosh, students have the opportunity to play between classes, taking out the frustration accumulated in a fifty minute lecture. During mid-terms, the population of the game room seems to rise dramatically. Many play, not only to relieve frustration, but also to feel the U satisfaction of winning, or in extreme cases, to do something, anything with their time. As long as Ada is Ada, students at Northern will be fir, f '5 5 looking for diversions. Some drink, some smoke, and others just leave f- W town. For many though, the best escape is pinball. s-f-4 Above: Flicker machine is one of the favorites. Right: Foozball is popular. Lower Right: Pinball in uptown Ada on a XVednesday night. Below: a lot of concentration for a quarter's worth. Hr-e '.T -mv., I' nl . .A 24
