The Battle of the Stomachs The stage was set in Founders Hall. The opponents solemnly stepped up to the table and the battle began. The battle, between Quincey SuSong and Mike Ruggero was a spaghetti eating contest. While many spectators gazed on, the competitors chewed and swal¬ lowed, and chewed some more. Fi¬ nally after a few belches and over two pounds of spaghetti consumed, Quincey emerged the man with the superior stomach. Top: Finding it a chore to swallow, Mike’s ready to quit. Bottom left: Strategy and concentration are required in consuming great quantities of spaghetti. Musical Involvement For the musically inclined, there are many opportunities for students to develop their talents at Ohio Northern. The student may choose to partici¬ pate in any of the musically oriented groups on campus. A few of these are: chorus, which performs once a quarter, the University Singers, who per¬ form throughout the year and tour parts of the US. during spring break, and Northern Lights, who give various per¬ formances all year. In¬ strumental participation can be found in the Jazz Ensemble, which attends a collegiate jazz festival as well as hosting a fes¬ tival of their own and giving two concerts a year, the Con¬ cert Band, which performs three times a year, and the Pep Band, which plays at all home games.
