Warren L. Hickman Dean of Women Mrs. Mary Dorothy Link, Dean of Women, came to Ohio Northern in 1951 as an instructor in freshman English, and succeeded Mrs. Alice Webb as Dean of Women during the summer quarter. She was graduated from Wittenberg Col¬ lege with an A.B., and received her M.A. from Columbia University. She holds membership in the American Association of University Women and several professional educational associations. Dean Link has resigned her post as of June 1, 1953. At this time, we wish to express our grati¬ tude for the time and effort which she has devoted to the students here at Ohio Northern. The Dean of the University The office of University Dean is a new one. The late Dean Otte was the first to be appointed to this office. The Dean of the University is responsible to the president and is charged with the academic administration of the university. He works with the president in the selection of faculty members, supervises the curricula, correlates the work of the four colleges, and counsels with the deans, depart¬ ment heads and faculty members on educational procedures and trends. He also serves on the ex¬ ecutive committee, with the Director of Public Relations and Business Manager. The president consults with this committee in administrative matters. Dean of Men Appointment of Fred R. Clark as Dean of Men became effective in the fall of 1951. In addition to his duties as Dean of Men, he is a professor in the College of Pharmacy, and serves as the faculty advisor for the Interfraternity Council. 8

Shown above are representative members of the Board of Trustees. They are, left to right: Dr. J. Bovd Davis, Dr. John II. Clark, Chairman; Mrs. l-rank B. Willis, Dr. Ilarold J. Bowers, and Judge Edward S. Matthias. Ohio Northern University operates under a charter granted by the State of Ohio. Legal title is held by the Ohio Annual Conferenced ' the Methodist Church. Control is vested in a Board of Trustees, 1 en £ w hom are mir ' ' sters and laymen elected by the Ohio Annual Conference. The alumni elect one m« :m ber of the board each year, for a term of five years, making five members in all. The other seven members are elected as trustees-at-large by the board itself. These seven are made up d ' promi¬ nent alumni, businessmen, industrialists, and churchmen. The Board d ' Trustees meets regularly twice a year. A number d committees are set up to care for specific tasks between meetings. Special meetings are called when occasion demands. The President d ' the University is elected by the Board of Trustees, and when a minister, is appointed by the resident Bishop of the Ohio Area. The president’s authority comes from the Board of Trustees and the Methodist Church. He is charged with the responsibility of implementing the plans and program d the uni¬ versity as authorized by the trustees. 7
