No matter what wealth or luxury may surround her earlier years, the woman may be forced sometime or other to fall back upon her own resources. The well-dressed woman and good taste in clothes cannot exist without each other. Good taste is not an inheritance. The ability to dress well is not a birthright, but a study of color scheme, style of figure, materials, and the style of the day. Choose good and beautiful materials. Costly and many, if you are rich enough to afford several frocks and have suitable opportun- ities for wearing them, few, but excellent of their kind, should your dress money be limited, is a great motto. Then have them made up simply, always bearing in mind the requirements of the occasions they are to adorn and your own individual needs. dll-n.-Q-, I W MARIE M- JOHNSON Head of Department of Dressmaking TT' '- - '?1'..'Z fr.7fEQ'3i1 L 'ummm'-me Page Forty-eight

CARSON HOY s . , ,,i.,,.... - -...W Y I FEEL that the athletic situation at the 0. M. I. is better at the present time than it has been for several years. The various teams representing our school have been fairly successful and certainly they command the respect of most of the other high- schools in our group. Furthermore, most of the men who comprise the teams are Sophomores and Juniors, which makes our outlook for next year very bright indeed. However, it is not the fact that we have suc- cessful teams that gives me the most encourage- ment. It is the fact that our school spirit is much improved over last year. That is, the student body attends the games and lends its support much more regularly than was formerly the case. If we can increase this spirit next year I will feel that our endeavor in the field of athletics will not be wasted, for any influence which tends to bring the student body closer together is a wholesome influence and one that should be fostered.
