I, Geneva Grant, do will and bequeath my black hair to Mary Ann Rettke. written by Bonnie Evans and Leslie Kreiger My name is Nick Smith. The calendar on the wall says that it is 1969, which tells me that it has been ten years since I was graduated from Ohio High School. Since I just became the sole owner of Nick's Nifty Texaco Station, I have de- cided to take a few days off to go on a little trip. As I stepped up to the reservation counter at the airport, who should confront me, but my old classmate Judy Ryan, who is the top reservationist with Schultz's Skylines, a jet service. During my conversation with Judy she told me that our old classmate, Rich, not only owns the jet service, but he test drives his own jets. Judy was surprised when I told her that the former Joan Byczynski and her husband Arch still live on a farm north of Ohio. Judy said that it was a shame that I hadn't come a week earlier, as another classmate, Ed i Sammy1 Snead Duffy, stopped over on his way to Florida, where he was to take part in an exhibition golf match with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. Duff was accompanied by his trainer and business manager, another classmate, Jesse Brimm. As my plane was ready to take off I bid Judy good-bye and went aboard. We were airborne only a few minutes when we had to make an emergency landing near an Indian reservation in cen- tral Iowa. Who should our surprised hostess be, but Miss Doris Dodie Koons, who is the principal of the Kootshi-Kootshi Koons Indian School. Dodie informed me that another classmate of ours, Doug Johnson, who is a very successful business- man in a nearby town, is the owner of Johnson's Jolly Mortuary. His faithful ambulance driver and chaffeur is none other than Howard Spohn. Dodie said although her work was very rewarding, it was also very tiresome, so she manages to spend at least two weeks each summer at the Russell Rest Home in Tiskilwa, Illinois where Bonnie Evans is the head nurse. As soon as the plane was ready to go again we started to continue our trip westward. While we were cruising along airborne at 600 and some miles an hour, I heard a peep, peep, peep, and looked out just in time to see my old friend, Jim Ioder fly by. Jim is a used airplane dealer and is doing very well I hear. Perhaps his success is due partly to his very competent secretary, Geneva Grant. In a short time I was on the ground again having reached my destination, a Dude Ranch in central Arizona. The owner of Carey's Cozy Corral, my old side kick, Jim Carey was there to ,greet me. Jim has a beautiful layout and a thriving business. Featured at his weekly rodeo is therenowned trick riderJanet Pendarvis. Jim tells me that the next ranch is owned by Jim Tornow and his wife the former Joann Byczynski, who are in the chicken and egg business. Jim also told me that two of his recent guests at the ranch were Lynne Meisenheimer who is touring the country giving piano concerts, and Tony Friel who is a ski instructor at Sun Valley. One of the highlights of my trip through California was a visit to the movie colony where I met Anne Piper who is the head bookkeeper for the Elvis Presley Fan Club. Anne told me that Nancy Stocking is a cruise nurse, working on a luxury liner, the Becky Lynne, which is named after the captain's daughter, The captain being none other than an old class- mate, Sonny Ramos. I am looking forward to my last night in California. I am spending it at the Stock Car Races where my old friend Les Krieger, known as Lucky Les, is racing his little stock car, the Queen Ann. Then I will turn my thoughts homeward. I have had a wonderful trip and have enjoyed seeing all my old friends again, but I will be glad to get back to that thriving metropolis of Ohio, Illinois, for that will always be a welcome sight to me. , written by Sheila Evans and Mike O'Malley Co-sponsored by JACK F ALEY APPLIANCE STORE and THE DOLAN AGENCY--Ohio, Illinois
