Class Prophecy I, Leslie Krieger, was quite taken by surprise in the year 1975 when I made my first visit back to Ohio to find it now a large metrop- olis, the hog-buying center of the United States. Joan Byczynski, now my wife, and I some years ago, moved our establishment Kriegers' Motoramic Garage to the West Coast. Soon we were to find out that the cause of Ohio's tremenduous growth is due to none other than our own Jim Carey who is a pros- perous hog raiser. I had planned to return to Illinois to try to collect some unpaid bills from partons of Krieger's Motoramic Garage and upon reading of Jim Careys' hog show decided to come immediately. My surprises of the day were unlimited. As Joan and I fastened our safety belts on the jet plane piloted by Jim Ioder, we found ourselves next to Bill and Bonnie Farley who had left their robot-run farm in Al- aska to attend the Carey hog show. While Bill, Bonnie, Joan and I were discussing old times a very familiar voice broke in to remind us of tightening our safety belts. Looking up we saw another old classmate, Ann Piper who is stewardess of the jet plane. After talking with Ann we learned that this is her last flight as she and Jim are planning to be married. To everyones amazement the plane began a deep dive toward some- thing that looked like a black snake on the highway. At a lower altitude the black snake turns into a long line of trucks bearing the name Schultz Trucking Inc. Rich, now owns one of the biggest trucking con- cerns in the United States, and with Sandy now his wife he feels him- self a very successful man. Rich is also on his way to the hog show in Ohio with a truckload of champion hogs from the farm of Tony and Lynne Friel located in Lee County. As we landed and were getting off, we noticed George 'Allen boarding another plane. I ran across the field to catch him before he boarded the plane fwhich I was soon to find outj was taking him to Hong Hong, China for a world chess tournament. We decided to make a tour of Ohio before attending the hog show. The first place of interest is the newly established Comstock Uni- versity. The credit of the ship-shape appearance of the University is given to Ed. Duffy, the head janitor, and his wife Joann who is always behind him with a broom. A continued visit of the town takes us to the South end and then to Kasbeer, where we find Doug Johnson and his wife Judy Ryan Johnson the owners of a huge sheep farm. As we pulled onto the highway again who should we see speeding by in a Cadillac but Nick and -Nancy Smith. The rate of speed at which Nick and Nancy were traveling told us that the hog show was about to start. Getting out of the car at the grounds we meet the charming wife of Jim Carey, Freda Anderson Carey. After a friendly chat with Freda my eye spots an old customer of mine who is on my unpaid list so I must move along. I 13
