The Class of 1967 dedicates this 1967 Year- book to the Memory of our classmate, John Edward Lancaster, who died on August 10, 1967. He was a dear friend to many and will never be forgotten. AWAY I cannot say, and I will not say That he is dead. He is just away! With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand. He has wandered into an unknown land. And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since he lingers there. And you - - oh you, who the wildest yearn For the old time step and the glad return - - Think of him faring on, as dear In the love of There as the love of Here . . . S.Jm GLnslwa JJeen Smove and SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Our Senior Class of 1967, began our high school years as Freshmen in September, 1963, with thirty- two members and Mr. Ron Matthias as our sponsor. Our class officers elected for that year were: Presi- dent, John Simon; Vice-President, Bob Exline; Secretary, Jane Mathew; Treasurer, Leslie Stemen; and Class Reporters, Rex Medford and Gary Fauble. Beverly Johnson and Gary Sutton were elected as our Student Council Representatives, and Leslie Stemen served as the Freshman Homecoming attendant. During this year the class enjoyed a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. We once again resumed our high-school career in September, 1964, as Sophomores. That year our total class membership was thirty. Again Mr. Ron Matthias was our class sponsor, and the class officers were: President, Rex Medford; Vice-President, Gary Fauble; Secretary, Beverly Johnson; Treasurer, Gary Sutton; and our Student Council Representatives John Simon and Jack Brown. Jane Mathew was selected the Sophomore Homecoming Attendant. Highlights during that year were the WOWO record hop, our class trip to Cedar Point, and the most exciting of all was the ordering of our class rings. As another year progressed, we began our Junior year in September of 1965, with twenty-nine mem- bers, and Mr. Thomas Edinger.as our sponsor. Class officers for 1965-1966 were: President, John Simon; Vice-President, Bob Exline; Secretary, Leslie Stemen; Treasurer, Connie Kline; and the Student Council Representatives, Jane Mathew and Gary Sutton. Carol Agler was selected as the Junior attendant for the annual basketball-homecoming ceremonies. The first week of school we received our long-awaited class rings, which began the many important events of our Junior year. On November 30, we selected as our class motto: Great opportunities come to those who make the most of small ones. Emerald green and white became our class colors, and a pale yellow rose, the class flower. On November 5, Here Come the Brides , a three-act comedy, was presented as the Junior Class Play. Mr. Thomas Edinger, our class sponsor, directed this successful performance. During the year the class held a WOWO record hop, enjoyed a class trip to Pokagon State Park, and earned some money through the concessions at the basketball games. The last important event came on May 26, when the cherished Junior-Senior Prom occurred. Show- boat , the Prom theme, was a year ' s dream rolled into one successful night. As high-school students for the last time, our year started in September, 1966, with thirty class members and Mr. Robert Stevens as our Senior-Class Sponsor. The class officers for the year were: Pres- ident, John Simon; Vice-President, Gary Fauble; Secretary, Connie Kline; Treasurer, Jane Mathew; and the Student Council Representatives, John Simon and Bob Exline. Leslie Stemen was elected as our 1966- 1967 Homecoming Queen, and Jane Mathew was the Senior Attendant. During the year, we gained two new members, Trudy Rider and Susan Shilt, making a total of thirty-two. The first important event of the year was the Senior magazine sales which ran for two weeks, and we were very proud to surpass last year ' s sales by a large margin. In February, 1967, the Seniors sponsored a Sadie Hawkins Dance. On April 28, the class presented We Dude It , a three-act play, under the direction of Mr. Robert Stevens, our sponsor. The play was a huge success. Being together for one last time, the Seniors enjoyed a one-day class trip to Greenfield Village and Boblo Island in Detroit. Special recognition must be given to Shirley Spitler, Valedictorian, and to Beverly Johnson, Saluta- torian, at the graduation which took place on June 4. We have been proud to be members of the Class of 1967, and will cherish our lingering memories of the past hoping that as we make the most of our small opportunities, we may attain the great.
