The class officers were; Charles Hunter, President; John Wortman, Vice-President; Joan Clouse, Secretary; Joan Brubaker, Treasurer; Rodger Rice, Reporter. We became part of the high school crowd after our Initiation Day, October lU. That day, with the fragrance from the onion ring necklaces will linger in the memories of the class and faculty. During our first year we and the Biology students traveled to Toledo to visit the zoo. When we returned in September I96I to begin our Sophomore year, we gained two members and lost one to make our class total of 36. Our sponsor for that year was Mr. David Leiendecker. Officers for the year were; Joyce Bragg, President; Richard Mathew, Vice-President; Bonnie Johnson, Secretary; Shirley Cheek, Treasurer. The important events of the year were the numerous and profitable bake sales and skating parties. The highlight of the year was ordering our class rings. As Jxmiors, we entered school with 33 members and Mr. Dennis Ransbottom as our sponsor. The officers for the year were; Bonnie Johnson, President; Richard Mathew, Vice-President; Nancy Galloway, Secretary; Joy Ricketts, Treasurer. We received our class rings on October 1 to begin our many events of Junior year. October 5t we selected our class motto; What we are to be we are now becoming ; class flower, carnation; class colors, azure blue and white. The High White Star , a three act comedy, was presented on October 19. Mr. David Leiendecker directed the play. We took a day off from studies to visit the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The last event, but not least, was the Junior-Senior Prom. Roman Holiday , the theme of the Prom, was a year ' s work ended in a night ' s pleasure. On September T, 1963 we began our final year with 32 members and Mr. Robert Lybarger as our sponsor. The class officers for the year were; Bonnie Johnson, President; Richard Mathew, Vice-President; Carolyn Matthews, Secretary; Joan Clouse, Treasurer. The first event of our Senior year was magazine sales. The sales ran for two weeks. The sales totaled $7 . 6, a large increase over last year. On May 8, I96U, the class presented Space Ship Ahoy as their final class play. The play was directed by Mr. David Leiendecker and was a tremendous success. On May 28 the class traveled to Coney Island for their one-day class trip. Recognition must be given to our three outstanding students: Bonnie Johnson, the Valedictorian; Rodger Rice and Charles Hunter, the Co-Salutatorians. Honorable mention goes to Joan Clouse, Home- coming Queen for I96I . I, Carolyn Matthews, the historian, am wishing all my classmates the best in everything to come, and good l uck to the under classmen . It had almost slipped ny mind that Just thirty years ago the class of 6k had decided to hold its first re-union on this date. Had it not heen for the reminder that editor Paulette Ream had put in her prosperous newspaper I would have missed our re-union. Actually I nearly missed getting the paper that day, for the mail carrier. Bob McPhail, was Just breaking in a new mail cart and he had made a mess of that day ' s mail. He had been dragging again. It wasn ' t such a surprise to see John Rollins riding into town on a horse. It seems that he and his horses had long ago gone to Texas irtiere he had a sizable ranch. He and Ron Allmandinger , Jack Kraner, Gale Baker and Paul Germann were discussing the differences between farming and ranching methods. The latter four thought farming was the best, but I thought probably they were prejudiced. Steve Dibert was trying to sell each of them a new tractor. He informed iib that he was a mechanical engineer but sold tractors as a side-line. Suddenly a loud scream quieted the talking. It was none other than Bonnie Johnson. You see Rlc Mathew had become quite interested In the study of snakes and spiders and was devoting much of his time to the S.P.K.S. (Society for the Prevention of Killing Spiders) At any rate he had accidentally frightened Bonnie with one of his beloved creatures and as a result Bonnie fainted. It didn ' t take long for a licensed pharmacist to reach the scene, for there with his smelling salts was Chuck Hunter, owner of a large chain of Hiinter ' s Drugs. The talking resumed, but again was interirupted when a huge Jet came flying into town. A few minutes later Tom Wright walked in. He was making a career of the Air Force so that explained the Jet. We all knew that Karl Grlbler would be a little late because he had J i8t won the Indianapolis 00 the preceding day and was quite busy with publicity and all. If it hadn ' t been for his two good mechanics, Randy Agler and Chuck Adelblue, he probably wouldn ' t have won the race. There was quite a buzz of excitement when Joan Brubaker arrived. She had only recently returned from abroad as a missionary and had brovight with her 1 little orphan children. Joan Clouse said she loved the little darlings and wanted to adopt two of them. They asked Steve Hardmon, a pro baseball player If he would like to adopt some but his reply was Hah, I don ' t want any kids, they might get this nasty chewing habit of mine. 25 He and Dan Kline seemed to he deep in a discussion a ' bout athletics. I, learned that Dan was the head coach of the Yankees. I also learned that a few years before, he and Chuck Hunter had made a million by advertising and selling Fersonna Razor Blades. A few of our former classmates had come back to their favored O.C.L, and were faculty members, Carolyn Matthews was the school secretary. She and Nancy Galloway, the head of the business department, were talking to Rodger Rice, the English teacher. They said that Sharon Agler was also a faculty member. She was teaching the second grade, but she said the little dears were beginning to get on her nerves. Lorraine Wallace and Marvel High, owners of a Beauty College, were considering whether or not to give Margaret Agler part ownership in their college. Margaret and Janice Amweg had just had a quarrel and their partnership in a Fashion Shop was dissolved. To my svirprise, Beverly Custer was an automobile designer. She was designing small, practical cats for short trips to the store or to school. Hon Lautzenheiser was giving her some rovigh con jetition. He, being more space-minded, was working on a design for an autoplane which would operate on an atom and would fly over anything that blocked its path. Dan Amweg, the owner of an atom station, something similar to the old-fashioned gas stations, was opened to supply Ron ' s customers with the energy for their autoplanes. John Wortman informed me that he was the manager of Wortnan and Murphy ' s 5 and 10. Everyone enjoyed the re-union so much that we made plans for another one in ten years which would be the year 200U. As I traveled homeward I decided to give up my teaching career and go into the wig business. Some of the old gang surely looked as though they needed son ething to cover their chrome domes. 26 Baby Pictures SENIOR CLASS WILL I, MofigcvieX KqLvi, umJLZ my good tAineJ in Ivigh ichool to mu i-iitsA, CoAot) to my bKothiA.
