The class officers for this year were President, Melvin Hurlessj Vice-President, Judy Brownj Secretary, Diane Profit; Treasurer, Gary Medford; and News Reporter; Mar- vin Foster. During this year the class enjoyed a trip with the Sopho- mores to the Museum of Science and Industry and the Museum of Natural History in Chicago. This was a day I ' m sure we ' ll all remember. In September, 1960, we had 32 members in our class. That year our class was under the leadership of President, Melvin Hurless; Vice-Presi- dent, Tom Ash; Secretary, Sandra Wise; Treasurer, Marvin Foster; and News Reporter, Judy Brovm. Our new sponsor was Mr. Devon Bricker, The most irr.portajit events of the year were our trip to the Toledo Zoo and the se- lection of our class rings. The Junior class started 1961 with 28 members. The class officers for the year were President, Tom Ash; Vice-President, Melvin Hurless; Secretary, Diane Profit; Treasurer, Mike Moonshower and News Reporter, Judy Brown, Mr. Dennis Ransbottom was our sponsor this- year. This was a big year for us, who received our class rings; chose our class motto Study, stand, sei e and be glad for tomorrow we live , and selected our class colors, royal blue and silver, along with our class flower, the light pink rose. We presented two one-act plays, French Toast and Take a Letter , under the direction of Mrs. Dennis Raxisbottom. Since this was our year to sponsor the Prom, we chose My Blue Heaven as our theme. It was a busy year, but one we ' ll always remember. In September, 1962, we began our final and in some ways our most disappointing year, for all over-night class trips were discontinued ajid v ith the exception of our magazine sales most money-making projects were canceled for Seniors. Twenty-six of us were left ajid our sponsor was Mr. Robert Lybarger. We elected for President, Gary Medford; Vice-President, Tom Ash; Secretary, Diane Profit; and for Treasurer, Sandra Wise, Our class play Mountain Gal, under the direction of Mr, David Leiendecker, was a huge success. Of course, recognition must be given our two outstanding students, Doyt Johnson, the Valedictorian and Diane Gunter, the Salutatorian. Hon- orable mention goes to our other classmates: Sandra Wise, Freshman Home- coming attendant; June Haver, Junior attendant; Susan Good, Senior at- tendant; and Joyce Landolt, Home-Coming Queen for 1963 as well as at- tendant her Sophomore year. This concludes the history of the Class of nineteen hundred and sixty-three. We are all proud to have played our parts well. ; «.(• Senior Class Officers 62-63 F ' k flijfe President . . . Because the Editor had thought the 30th reunion of the Class of ' 63 would make a good human-interest stoiy, I ' .vas assigned to cover it, I knew my Jetmobile could make the trip from New York to Ohio in a ffffl- hours. As I sped along, I was eagerly anticipating this meeting with my former classmates, some of whom I hadn ' t seen in nearly thirty years. As I reflected over the past years, I remembered that two of my classmates had been responsible for the Jetmobile; Doyt Johnson had presented a set of plans to automobile manufacturers, who said they were too radical . Meanwhile, Marvin Foster, a struggling young mechanic, had just started his own body-building shop; so they combined forces and two years later produced the first of the now famous Jetmobiles, Marv- in now has his own nation-wide chain of Jetmobile Garages, and Doyt is a Professor of Engineering at Case Institute, his old Alma Mater, I scarcely recognized Ohio City when I arrived but had no diffi- culty finding the school. The first person I met coming up the steps was the fonaer Sandra Tise, Hi Sandyl How ' s the orphanage coming? Sandy r ms an adoption agency to find new homes for healthy pets who would be put to sleep because their owners can ' t take care of them, or simply don ' t want them any longer. The sound of music filled the air as we entered the auditorium. Around the piano were Rebecca Moore, Jim Cooper, John Gardner, Becky Mottinger, Peggy A-nweg, and Sandra Agler, Diane Profit was accompanying them, Diane is famous in theaters all over the country as Ohio City ' s answer to GYPSY , and Rebecca is our first lady astronaut, Everyone says my sense of humor is out ofj this world! she quipped, I also knew of Jim Cooper ' s fame as DeeJay of his own program of Coimtry Western music, but what about Peg, Sandra, and Becky? All housewives, they told me. At that time, John Gardner made a speech welcoming us back to our old hometown, I learned that besides rxmning his lumber yard, John has assumed the duties of Mayor of Ohio City. Three familiar figures entered the room. Norma Kraner, June Haver, and Bonnie Rickard, Bonnie told me June had become an ac tress, while Norma had worked as an airline stewardess until her marriage; then she and June started a professional modeling school, with Bonnie as their secretary, I next saw Larry Linton, and the former Sue Good, comparing pic- tures of their grandchildren, Larry told me that crops had been good, and Dick McHugh, another gentleman farmer, agreed with him. Two of ITT - old friends, Carol Clouse and Diane Gunter, were talking to Ethel Shindeldecker . Diane now lives in Indiana, but comes back to Ohio to visit as often as possible. She teaches first grade at the same school where her husband, G. W, Thompson, is head coach. Carol works as a secretary while Dave is an accountant for a number of oil tycoons. But just as a hobby, she explained. Since we have struck a tidy little gusher of our own out West, we give all the money we earn by working to charities. How wonderful I exclaimed the familiar voice of Joyce Landolt , known as a dedicated social worker. Kid, I ' m worried about Steve, she said, looking in the direction of Steve Putman, He ' s with those rough-looking men. Do you know anything about them? Ethel, who holds the position of executive secretary to the Presi- dent of the United States, laughed. Don ' t worry, Joyce. Steve is one of our country ' s finest citizens. -Thy don ' t you ask him about his job? So we did, but Steve wasn ' t saying much. He explained that he ' d thought he could mix business with pleasure, but had brought some of his buddies along, just in case. But who do you work for? Joyce asked. Steve replied tersely, F.B.I. President ' s body guard. When it was time for the appearance of perhaps our most widely- known classmate, the band struck up Hail to the Chief , but the honored guest was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly the stately beat of the march broke off into a wild version of Topsy , and Melvin Hurless, 39th Pres- ident of the United States, leaped off the bandstand. I never could resist a good set of skins, he laughed. Not only does President Hur- less ' musical ability make news, but also his hobby of making archaeolo- gical expeditions on the White House lawn. All too soon it was time to go. As the last of the guests departed, I noticed a familiar figure sweeping the hall. Thy, Boyd Kline, Don ' t tell me you ' re the Maintenance Engineer! It ' s Butch to you, Judy, he laughed, running a hand over his thinning top-knot. I might as well be the Janitor, with all the work I do around here I But seriously, I don ' t think it ever hurts a superin- tendent to sweep out his school now and then. Keeps him from losing the common touch . I hated to leave my old classmates, but since everyone is taking the marvelous Super-Seaweed-Vitamins developed by Tom Ash and Gary Med- ford, the Class of ' 63 can count on being around for their reunion sixty years from now. Senior Class Will We the Senior Class of 1965, realizing that OC-L is about to lose the most enthusiastic and ingenious olass ever to pass through these hallowed halls, do hereby will and bequeath the following: To the faculty our sincere thanks for a job well done, best wishes for the future, and the hope (though doubtful), that next year ' s Seniors will be less trouble than we.
