SCRIBNER, the director, joined the faculty of Oglethorpe in 1948 in the history department. Although this is his first direction of the Players, he has helped us in the past countless times by technical assistance. Although he is a newcomer to the Oglethorpe stage, it was only natural that EUGENE O ' BRIEN (Mortimer), who by all appearances could very well be a dramatic critic, should take time from his writing and painting to add his dramatic talent to the Players. It seems rather appropriate that JANE COWART (lUartha) and JO FUREY (Abby), who appeared forthe first time at Oglethorpe as two zany sisters in LADIES IN RETIREMENT, are now for the last time together again cast as two mad sisters. In the inter- vening plays they have starred as moth- er and daughter, sane sisters, and ac- complished gin I ' ummy players. Jane, a senior, has sei-ved for two years on the business staff, while Jo, a junior, is at present the president of the Players. S HEFFIELD, JR., (Teddy) has sported a bristling moustache, since he initiated his acting career at Oglethorpe in LIGHT UP THE SKY and from behind these moustaches have come many fine Performances. With only previous business and stag- ing experience at Oglethorpe, JEANNE KAST (Elaine) imparts to her character all the ingredients for a most enjoyable performance. DAVID FISCHER (Dr. Einstein) earned his reputation as a character ac- tor by his outstanding work with minor roles in two previous plays. This experi- ence along with his ability enables him to portray the surgeon of great distinc- tion delightfully. AVA HART (Elaine), remembered as the colored maid in YOU CAN ' T TAKE IT WITH YOU and more recently as the ' ingenue in LABURNUM GROVE, again proves her versatility as an actress by her excellent rendition of Elaine. Oglethorpe ' s dynamic delegate from Brooklyn, New York, SHELLY FLEIT- MAN (Jonathan), becoming a Thespian for the first time, adds another accom- plishment to his already long list of suc- cessful endeavors with his realistic in- terpretation of Jonathan.
