For those ot you who are friends of Oglethorpe, Avc hope that the Yamacraw will give you a true glimpse of our school and thereby a Ijetter understanding of what we are trying to do. Oglethorpe is not just a school, but also an idea. The idea is to embody the principle that you cannot divide life into unrelated departments, but rather that life is a unit and must be seen as a whole. There are three things that we believe are essential to hfe: an understanding of yomself, creative citizenship and the ability to make a living. We have tried to incoiporate these talents into our program of education, as • vcll as our campus life. This is om- story for 1949 and it is deilicated to the participan ts in that story, the Oglethorjje Family.
